Update: Council approves sale of sdot surplus site to dunn lumber

In late September 2018, Seattle City Council unanimously voted approval for the sale of the SDOT property at 3819 4th Ave NE to Dunn Lumber. Since then, the City and Dunn Lumber have executed a Purchase & Sale Agreement. The parties expect the sale to close in early 2019. Dunn Lumber will be pursuing the Dunn headquarters expansion vision in 2019. Exact timing and next steps have not yet been determined, but we hope to update everyone in early-mid 2019 of plans to come!

FINAL Recommendation Report for 3819 4th Ave NE - the recommendation for a direct sale to Dunn Lumber

On August 12th, 2018, Seattle Finance and Administrative  Services (FAS) issued their Final Recommendation Report and Public Involvement Plan for Reuse and Disposal of the Seattle Department of Transportation's (SDOT) Brickyard Property at 3819 (a/k/a 3831) 4th Ave NE. In this report, FAS recommended that the City dispose of the SDOT brickyard by first attempting to negotiate a direct sale to the owner of the abutting property, Dunn Lumber Company Inc.

This was great news for Dunn Lumber, as acquiring this SDOT parcel and adding it to their adjacent Dunn owned parcels helps to make a better Dunn Lumber expansion plan and a more complete alignment next to the Burke Gilman Trail.
